Christmas Party Decorations, Inside & Outside
Once you have selected the theme
and/or color palette, here are some ideas and tips for you to create a
festive holiday home for your party:
Start with the exterior of your home. How can you make the entrance and walkway festive and become part of your holiday decor?
Lighting up the walkway with paper bag candles,
small Christmas trees
on the front porch with white lights,
a dusting of 'snow' (if you live
in the south where there is none),
holiday music playing for guests as
they approach your entry...all these are ways to create the holiday
atmosphere before guests walk through the front door.
Use your selected figure/item to create your own memorable entrance.
The Front Entry Door itself is always a blank canvas waiting for adornment, and a holiday party is no exception.
you're not sure what to do and want to maintain a level of
sophistication, a safe choice is always a beautiful, fresh evergreen
wreath. Or, a natural looking wreath that looks great and won't ever drop a pine needle works for me!
Your wreath does not need a great big red bow, either. Sprinkle some gold or silver glitter on it and enjoy the simple sparkle that it creates...just sayin'
Inside, make the Christmas tree a focal point of the Christmas party decor, and follow your chosen theme and color palette. The key is to tie everything together so your theme is consistent.
The dining table is another focal point for your holiday decor. In addition to the centerpiece, place a small gift at
each place setting that is consistent with your theme.
on budget? Bake cookies that are in the shape of your selected theme
and take the time to decorate them beautifully. Place each cookie on a
color coordinated paper napkin that is then put on each guest's dinner
Your gift does not have to be expensive to be memorable, it just has to come from the heart.
Place small holiday items in the areas that your guests will use or see, such as the powder room, entry way, coat room, kitchen, etc. Place them in groups of 2 or 3, and/or use filler around them such as small wreaths or garland.
always create a beautiful holiday glow and can be placed in a number of
different areas, just be sure that the flame does not come into contact
with anything flammable. Use them in conjunction with your selected
theme, as they will fit in with virtually any color scheme or holiday
For example, if your theme revolves around snowmen, make sure there is a snowman (or two or three) in each of the areas mentioned above.Select avariety of materials, shapes, sizes and colorsof snowmen to keep things interesting and eye-catching. From tiny snowman shaped candles to a 3 foot snowman that stands by the front entry, these are the things that make your home stand out and the Christmas party decorations memorable.
