Ideas to help you create rustic sophistication in your log home!
Log home designs and decor offer so much more than the country cabin that so many people equate with a log home, and Contemporary Log Home Decorating is definitely an avenue that creates drama and sophistication.
I remember when we lived in our 3,000 sq.ft.+ log home how some friends would ask us about our ‘log cabin’ ...it was far from that!
No matter the size of your rustic residence, if you are thinking of swinging toward the contemporary styling spectrum, here are some helpful ideas for you.
What makes a contemporary style log residence different than a traditional log home? See my comments below this image.
Here are some examples of the type of end tables, accent tables and coffee tables that would look awesome in a Contemporary Style Log home. I curated them for you from Pier 1, high on my list of retailers. They consistently offer a unique product that is well priced. Take a look and see what might work in your home!
This is quite an interesting mix of wood finishes and elements, and definitely goes down the more Eclectic and Contemporary path. Contrasting blend of bright colors against the warm wood tones. I think this works because the space is so large.
This image shows us how to blend a traditional full log home with a more contemporary color palette and design. The gray trim on the doors is consistent with the colors on the upholstered pieces, with a pop of bright accents brought in to keep things from getting too dull color wise. A bit of a stretch, but an interesting look for sure. Gotta love those fluffy footstools!
There are so many decisions to make when building/decorating/redecorating your home, it can be totally overwhelming. Sometimes it helps to have a few suggestions as a starting point...that's my specialty!
I've done some scouting about for interesting lighting options. They would all be unique additions to a contemporary log home:
Sleek, contemporary feel in this 48", 4 light chandelier that is offered in brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze.
It would look great over a kitchen island.
Sized for a larger, taller space, the linear look to this chandelier would fit well into contemporary log home decorating.
The style is strong enough to stand up with the typically strong (both visual and otherwise) finishes in these types of homes.
A mix of metal and fabric give the personality to this drum shade fixture.
The curved iron accents outside of the shade itself keep it from being 'just another round drum shade'.
I love this fixture. It can fit right into a contemporary setting, a rustic type home or be a focal point in a casual style space.
A breakfast nook or other casual dining space would look really cool with this industrial type chandelier.
All of these suggested lighting fixtures are from one of my favorite online sources, Wayfair.com. I have purchased many, many pieces from them for both personal and business use. See my comments at the bottom of this page to learn why I always recommend Wayfair.
Timber frame homes are structurally so beautiful, and can reflect a more contemporary vibe quite well. Here are some examples of custom timber frame home interiors from our friends at Precision Craft Log and Timber Homes
Overall design advice for your contemporary log home decorating project would be to keep the home open and flowing, with a careful eye on over-accessorizing and cluttering up the space.
Have fun creating your own unique contemporary style look in your log home!
