Eco friendly home decor offers so many possibilities for those who want to furnish and decorate their home with products that are both earth and people friendly.
Beautiful, creative, unique and environmentally friendly!
If you have not spent much time learning about home decorating ideas, products and accessories that are created from sustainable materials, then you are just like me!
What an eye opening experience to find all of the eco friendly resources available to us as we decorate our homes.
There are certainly options for us to be friendly to our environment besides purchasing new home decor items. Let’s talk about that first.
I have used this technique for years, many times out of necessity, and have found ways to re-use existing items that are fun and easy on the budget, too.
If you are tired of your living room furniture, for example, look for ways to use the pieces in a different area of your home rather than getting rid of them.
Here is one idea for you:
If you have a small, little used eating area in the kitchen, turn it into a cozy reading corner by using an existing chair, end table (or anything you have that is the right size and shape), and lamp (taken from the living room, of course).
Take the table and chairs from the kitchen and put them on an enclosed patio or porch, or even tucked into the corner of a bedroom for the perfect morning coffee spot.
New look... repurposed home furnishings... no or very little cost...why not?
Scenarios like the one above can work many times, but in other situations a new purchase is the right answer.

If you are committed to making purchase decisions in your everyday living that will not harm the environment, how do you go about selecting eco friendly home decor?
What makes a product considered earth and eco friendly? Here are some of the characteristics to look for as well as simple definitions:*
This doesn’t necessarily make us experts in the field of eco friendly home decor, but it does help to understand what we are searching for when identifying the furniture, accessories, flooring, lighting, etc, for decorating our homes.
If you are committed to pursuing environmentally friendly products for your home, my advice is to do it one product at a time...one decision at a time... and you will ultimately create an environmentally friendly haven for you and your family.
